Judith Appel
Tiredness of life & existential anxiety
Judith Appel is a PhD student in the Meaning Research Late Life team of prof. Jessie Dezutter since 2020, after obtaining master’s degrees in Behavioral Science (Radboud University Nijmegen, NL) and in Positive Psychology and Technology (University of Twente, NL).
In her PhD research, Judith studies the lived experience of tiredness/weariness of life, as well as its conceptualization and measurement. Moreover, the development of tiredness of life over time and its relation to existential anxiety will be investigated. While most studies within the project focus on older adults, she also aims to explore the experience of tiredness/weariness of life in young adults. For this research, Judith received a PhD fellowship grant for fundamental research of the Research Foundations Flanders (FWO).
